Eine Gesellschaft ohne die geschlechtliche Klassifikation in Mann und Frau ist kaum vor-stellbar, da eben diese Zweigeschlechtlichkeit seit Jahrtausenden als natürliche Grundbedin-gung für Fortpflanzung angesehen wird. Auch in diesem Punkt unterscheidet sich die heutige nicht von der antiken Gesellschaft.
Ausgehend von dem textual content „Platon, Aristoteles und der Geschlechterunterschied“ von Giulia Sissa (1993) erfolgt in der vorliegenden Arbeit eine Darstellung antiker und neuzeitlicher Vorstellungen über den Geschlechterunterschied. Zentrale Fragen sind hierbei: ‚Wie sehen die allgemeinen Vorstellungen über das Geschlecht in der jeweiligen Zeit aus?‘, ‚Wodurch unter-scheiden sich weibliches und männliches Geschlecht?‘ und ‚Welche antiken Vorstellungen haben auch heute noch bestand?‘
